Master driver

Driver acquisition

New perspectives through foresight

Vocational qualification target Master driver
Professional drivers with perspectives

In addition to the basic qualification as a professional driver, in the case of the vocational qualification target, master driver, additional components such as the qualification for driving lifting and lifting vehicles as well as tracked vehicles, the application of drones and the handling of semi-autonomous operating processes are to be learned.

In view of the advancing development of innovative, autonomous means of work and transport, workers with the flexibility of the vocational qualification goal master driver are thus not only prepared for their professional life in the long term but can accompany the ongoing development process from the outset in the conversion of forward-looking work and transport processes and at the same time support new career entrants  Efficiently instruct in advanced training phases. Thus, the training periods cannot be significantly shortened in the long term, e.g. by accompanied driving instructions, but the flexibility of the master drivers naturally also results in an extended flexibility in the application possibilities of these drivers, which could also find their application possibilities outside the actual parameters of professional drivers if necessary. For this purpose, in addition to construction and loading work, work such as salvage, fire fighting and security in emergencies and disasters could also be carried out.

Project Master Driver PLUS

Due to the cessation of conscription with the Bundeswehr in 2011 and the steadily growing threat of terror and climate change (environmental disasters are becoming more frequent), an additional offer of instruction or additional training in dealing with tracked vehicles such as tanks and special police vehicles should also be offered secondarily. Practical applications and simulation programs, e.g. with salvage and firefighting tanks, are suitable for this purpose.

Via target-oriented extinguishing processes on buildings as well as temporary salvage and rescue exercises using salvage, bridge laying and firefighting tanks, master drivers can be further trained or trained under the additional designation "Master Driver PLUS" specifically for rescue missions, e.g. after flood and/or storm disasters.

Additional advantages master driver PLUS

Extended application possibilities in crisis and disaster situations

Even full automation does not make people dispensable

The requirement profile for applicants
Basic and to be learned

Organizational talent:

What has to be transported how and where is usually determined by the client. Nevertheless, organizational skills are also required in everyday professional life. For example, if the route has to be rescheduled due to a traffic jam. But organized should basically also be your own self and of course also the vehicle, so the workplace.

Social behaviour:

Good to very good social behaviour should not be a problem for an applicant, because only with a balanced mixture of tolerance towards other road users and some staff at customers and shippers can you reach your destination relaxed and not ageing too quickly. And stress should also be handled well.

The applicant's absolute strength should be chivalry, i.e. a good mixture of friendliness, helpfulness and courtesy.

Communication skills:

Good to very good knowledge of German in word and writing is required in the daily dealings with all parties involved (from dispatchers to passers-by), with the freight documents and the omnipresent situations. Whether when inquiring about a loading zone, the right way to small talk, German skills are the be-all and end-all in the everyday life of a professional driver.

But the ability to communicate itself is also important, because when loading and unloading, a professional driver always maintains contact with the customer and his/her employer and a well-maintained small talk should not be underestimated, especially since a professional driver is also the business card of the profession and the employer.

Knowledge of English:

English is not a condition, because you rarely need it in this profession, especially if you drive mainly in local transport. As a long-distance driver, it can of course be practical to be able to communicate abroad.

Technical understanding:

With modern technologies and vehicle techniques, a professional driver must be well-versed and able to handle himself/herself so that, for example, devices for navigation or the digital tachograph can be operated safely. In the course of the advancing digitalization, however, more and more devices such as bar code and/or freight paper scanners or even the application of delivery drones and joysticks are used in the long term.

Fitness:

As a professional driver, it should not matter if you get involved. For example, when loading or unloading the truck or securing the load. After a breakdown, minor repairs to the vehicle can be physically quite exhausting.

Appropriate flexibility:

Since a professional driver can never know what is going on on the roads and how long a traffic jam lasts, for example, you can never calculate exactly when you have time off, an applicant should always plan for this.

However, an applicant should also be flexible in the tasks of his/her work and also let five times be straight.

Confident and well-groomed appearance:

A professional driver is the business card and the figurehead of his/her profession and the employer, so in addition to a well-groomed exterior, the tone should also have style.

Fair traffic behaviour:

Of course, there are many hooligans and idiots on the roads, so a modern professional driver should stand out and do better. True to the motto of the campaign: "Be a hero of the streets, chivalrous, friendly, polite and always helpful!"
